Here’s some research from Purdue University’s Kevin Gurney, whose team Vulcan was funded by NASA to develop models showing CO2 emissions across the US.

The new map is said to be 100 times more detailed than previous inventories of carbon dioxide. The map shows where CO2 is being emitted in the continental U.S. in 10-kilometer grids and combines data from sources including factories, automobiles on highways and power plants.
